It only took one “incident” with my firstborn to learn the importance of  “the spare outfit.” The setting: a busy restaurant. The suspect: an upset tummy. The fallout: she went home in a diaper and a cardigan. (I was prepared for a chilly evening…)

Two babies later, I still dreaded packing the all-too-necessary spare gear. Picking the outfit was always a chore. The outfit in the diaper bag was quickly mismatched. And, I didn’t feel very chic carrying around a freezer bag. That’s when I joined forces with attorney and long-time friend Tatiana Torres-Arnold to simplify at least one aspect of urban parenting.

We call it babysparewear: chic, “emergency” travel kits with key items to mix-and-match or wear as an outfit. A modern approach to a simple idea. A “spare” considered suitable wear by fashion-conscious moms. Practical enough to wash and rewash outing after outing. And, it’s a concept even busy dads can appreciate.
